How Custom Streetwear Is Made: The OEM Process from Design to Delivery

What Actually Happens Inside a Garment Factory

Ordering custom streetwear can feel opaque if you have never worked with a manufacturer before. Understanding the standard OEM workflow removes the mystery and helps you plan timelines, budgets and communication. Here is the process our factory follows, step by step.

Step 1: Design and Tech Pack

Everything starts with your concept. You share reference images, sketches or a tech pack — the document that specifies dimensions, fabrics, colors, trims and decoration. The more complete your tech pack, the fewer revisions and the faster your sample.

Step 2: Pattern Making and Sampling

Our pattern makers translate your design into graded patterns for each size. A first sample (prototype) is then cut and sewn so you can review fit, fabric and workmanship. Sampling typically takes 7–10 days, with revisions until you approve.

Step 3: Fabric Sourcing and Prep

Once the sample is approved, we source and dye the fabrics and trims. Custom dyeing and custom woven labels add lead time but elevate your brand. Pre-production samples confirm the final materials.

Step 4: Bulk Production and Decoration

Approved garments move into cutting, sewing and decoration — screen printing, embroidery or DTG as specified. With MOQs from 50–100 pieces per style, our line handles both emerging and scaling brands. Typical bulk lead time is 15–20 days for 100–500 pieces.

Step 5: Quality Control and Shipping

Every batch passes through rigorous inspection — stitching checks, measurement audits and a final cosmetic review — before packing and global shipping. We provide production updates and photos so you always know where your order stands.

Tips for a Smooth First Order

  • Finalize your tech pack before sampling to avoid costly changes.
  • Request free digital mockups to preview decoration before production.
  • Confirm fabric GSM, size breakdown and packaging details in writing.
